MACKENZIE STAND PROJECT
A beautiful kitchen project! The objectives received from the client: to transform a previously dark and dated kitchen into a light and airy space. We focused on flow first for a smoother prep, cook and clean path. We made slight adjustments to the footprint to take it from feeling closed off to utilizing the whole area of the kitchen instead — the addition of a 10ft island was a game-changer! We created a workspace with the sink in the corner, relocating the fridge, and incorporating a double oven. We brought in neutral colours, which helped open up the space, warming it up with accents in gold.
The clients come to us looking for a whole new aesthetic, and a desire for a kitchen that could function in new ways. We opened up the peninsula, and transformed a blank wall into additional storage with built-ins from floor to ceiling. This vertical extension stretches the space, giving it a grand sense that compliments the cohesion you feel with the kitchen island and backsplash. We used black hardware to contrast the light tones and the gold. We stretched the counter to the backsplash, which creates a cohesive, elegant feel with the right touch of drama.
In the dining room we added cabinetry and a buffet where a piano used to sit, in order to bring in more storage to house overflow items. We kept the dining room table and chairs, and changed the light fixture to extend that feeling of sophistication from the kitchen into the dining room space. These two spaces have now elevated into such elegant, luxurious spaces! We are proud of the transformation we achieved while adding functional value. It’s a gorgeous kitchen + dining room to live in, bringing beauty to the day to day.
