RUPERT PROJECT – HOME OFFICE

When my client at our Rupert Project came back to me and asked me to help her with her den, I was ready to tackle it head on.  I already worked on a few rooms in her condo and was familiar with what she liked and what she didn’t like, so transforming her once storage space / make shift office into a functional and inspiring home office was going to be fun and exciting.

Working from home is tough, tough with distractions like Netflix, gaming, YouTube, TV, snacks, napping and literally everything else are everywhere.  Plus, any room in your house is probably more comfortable than your office, with the existence of couches and beds elsewhere.  So how do we make a space that you will want to work in for a good chunk of the day without the other distractions luring you in?

My client had a few essentials on her wish list – a place she can work, a place her daughter can do online schooling, a place both her and her daughter can create (working on their arts and crafts), a place to store all her office materials, files and other essentials, a place she can lounge and read and a place she will want to come into every morning and feel inspired. With some careful planning and design, I think we created that perfect work from home space.

A PLACE FOR WORK

We designed a custom L shaped unit that will allow for two to work at the same time. This small space allowed for it and much more. This space gives them ample room to work side by side with these 2 pretty comfy chairs and spread out when working on their arts and crafts.

A PLACE FOR ALL STORAGE NEEDS

My client had a few boxes of files and supplies that needed a place of it’s own. My client’s second wish list item was for proper storage. We were able to design custom storage using drawers and upper and lower cabinet to house all the items plus tuck them away when you are finished with them.

A PLACE TO LOUNGE

The third must have on my client’s list was a place to lounge and this little area hit the spot. Not only is this chair a perfect fit in this small area, it’s comfortable and swivels. Above the chair, we have a pretty linen pinboard to house any reminders for school and life, plus any artwork she may have created for the day.

A PLACE FOR ALL THE PRETTY

This room does not have a window, so we needed to spruce it up to make it feel inviting and inspirational for her and her daughter to come and work. Adding the art, the rug, and all the other finishing touches and details made it cheery and bright and a space anyone would want to spend a good work day in.
